The President of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi Cirro, who is in Davos, Switzerland, where the World Economic Forum is taking place, met with the President of Israel, Isaac Herzog.
President Herzog, in a post on social media, said that he welcomes the new relationship between Somaliland and Israel, and hopes that both nations will benefit from it.
“I am pleased to have met with the President of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi, here in Davos. I welcome the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, and I hope that we will further strengthen our cooperation for the benefit of both nations,” said Herzog.
The President of Somaliland made an unannounced trip to Davos, posting a photo and greeting on social media yesterday, without giving details of his location, as he boarded one of the planes taking leaders to the mountainous location where the conference is taking place.
It is said that the President went there to hold a meeting with some of the international delegates he is interested in, having so far officially met with the President of Israel, the only country that has officially recognized Somaliland.
After the Davos trip, he is expected to make another trip to Israel, officially signing the Abraham Accords, so that Somaliland and Israel can establish a genuine cooperative relationship.
