The Jubbaland administration’s Dervish forces have carried out an operation against Al-Shabaab militants in the town of Qooqaani in the Lower Juba region.
The operation carried out by the Jubbaland Dervish forces in the town of Qooqaani was to ensure the general security of the town and the surrounding areas.
Qooqaani town security chief Mahmoud Adan Hassan Gaabow, who led the operation, told the media that the operation was part of ongoing efforts to ensure stability and prevent the activities of the Al-Shabaab group.
Commander Gaabow also said that the operation was aimed at clearing the important roads entering and exiting the town of Qooqaani in the Lower Juba region and areas where the group is hiding.
“The purpose of these operations is to strengthen security and ensure the safety of the community traveling on the roads leading out of and into Qooqani, especially in areas where Khawarij groups are hiding who are accustomed to harassing the public,” said Qooqani City Security Chief Mahmoud Adan Hassan Gaabow.
The conclusion of these operations will be part of operations conducted by Jubbaland forces in parts of the Lower and Middle Juba regions in an effort to liberate Al-Shabaab from areas and districts in those regions.
