Jubbaland President Ahmed Mohamed Islam Madoobe today received a high-level delegation from the United States government in Kismayo, led by the US Ambassador to Somalia, Ambassador Richard H. Riley.
The delegation of Ambassador Richard H. Riley discussed with Jubbaland President Ahmed Madoobe the general situation in the country, especially security issues and the response to the humanitarian situation in Jubbaland.
The two sides also discussed the political situation in the country, especially the ongoing conflict between the Federal Government of Somalia and the Jubbaland administration, which has not yet been resolved.
“Today, I met with Jubaland President Madoobe in Kismayo and discussed the importance of national unity and combating terrorism for the benefit of the people of Jubaland and all of Somalia,” said Ambassador Richard Riley.
The Jubbaland President was accompanied by the Ministers of Interior and Planning and International Relations of the Jubbaland administration, and the meeting discussed in depth strengthening bilateral cooperation, especially security issues and the Somali state-building process, according to a press release issued by Jubbaland.
However, this meeting is coming to an end, as the President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, recently visited the city of Kismayo, and his meetings there with the President of Jubbaland, Ahmed Madobe, ended without any results.
