The new mayor of Beledweyne has promised to take action against the acts of insecurity and public violence.

The new governor of Hiran region, Mohamed Hussein Mohamed, who officially took office yesterday, has promised to do more to address the insecurity in Beledweyne, the capital of Hiran region.

Governor Mohamed Hussein Arab, at the ceremony where he took office from the previous governor of Hiran region, Muse Salad Wehliye, said yesterday that he would put an end to the problems related to public violence.

“After tonight, we will not see thieves harassing poor mothers living in Beledweyne, we will catch the bandits and other groups that have caused insecurity in the city with an iron fist,” said Governor Mohamed Hussein Mohamed.

He also demanded that Governor Arab work with the people of Beledweyne to ensure security and overall development, as well as to overcome the challenges that have plagued the Hiran region.

The statement from the new governor of Hiran region comes as the people of Beledweyne are struggling with the problems related to violence and killings of civilians living in the neighborhoods of Beledweyne.
