The Chairman of the Somali People’s Union, Ali Mohamed Nuuh Timajilic, expressed his happiness over the reopening of the population registration in the Banadir region, which will eliminate the complaints from the population that did not register.

Chairman Timajilic said that it is appropriate that the registration should be open until 15 days before the election, and that day the number of voters should be announced so that every citizen has a chance, and he will apply to the Independent National Electoral and Boundaries Commission.

The Independent National Electoral Commission and the Somaliland High Court have resumed voter registration in Mogadishu, which will run from today, September 9, 2025, until September 30, 2025.

The chairman of the commission, Abdikarin Ahmed Hassan, explained the resumption of voter registration for the one-person, one-vote election as a way for new organizations and their politicians to have the opportunity to register and gain supporters.

“We have reopened voter registration in the Banadir region, from September 9, 2025 to September 30, 2025, so that supporters of new organizations have the opportunity to register,” said chairman Abdikarin Ahmed Hassan.

The chairman of the commission also said that he is happy that the people who have served this country are satisfied with participating in the voter registration today.

This step, which is being taken today to resume public registration, comes as the commission issued certificates to 14 political organizations last week.
