The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced that the public registration for the one-person, one-vote election will resume.
The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Abdikarin Ahmed Hassan, told the media that the public registration will resume on September 9.
“From the 9th of this month to the 30th, we will open registration so that the newly registered organizations can find supporters to vote for them,” said Chairman Ahmed.
Chairman Abdikarin Ahmed called on other organizations that have met all the requirements to register and that their doors are open at any time.
The registration that the commission announced that it would resume is coming, as the public registration for the one-person, one-vote election ended on August 15.
However, the issue of one-person elections is opposed by members of the opposition faction led by former President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed and the leaders of the Jubbaland and Puntland regional states.
