The Governor of Banadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu, Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Muungaab), today promised to rebuild some of the roads that were damaged by the recent rains in Mogadishu.
Governor Muungaab made this statement after laying the foundation stone for the reconstruction of the Zoobe Road, which was damaged by rainwater and was important for public and private transportation in the capital.
Mayor Muungaab promised that the severely damaged Workers’ Road and several other roads would also be rebuilt soon, stressing that taxes collected from the community would be returned to them.
“We promise to return taxes collected from the community to improve basic services, primarily providing free schools, improving health, and rebuilding infrastructure,” said the Governor of Banadir Region and Mayor of Mogadishu.
Mogadishu residents have recently been complaining about roads flooded by rainwater, making it difficult to move around, claiming that nothing has been done about the tax levied by the Banadir Regional Administration on residents of the capital.
