The Governor of Mudug region in Puntland, Faysal Sheikh Ali (Jifojabsade), has accused the Federal Government of Somalia of creating conflict between Puntland and Galmudug, citing the registration process being carried out by the NIRA in Galkayo.
The Governor noted that every time President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud comes to office, he incites conflict between the Puntland and Galmudug administrations. He said that now it seems that the Federal Government is trying to do so again.
The Governor of Mudug also said that the NIRA has added districts from Puntland to Galmudug, which he described as an attempt to destabilize the society and create instability.
He warned the people of Puntland to register with the NIRA, saying that Puntland and the Federal Government have no agreement on national identity registration.
However, a form by the NIRA recently appeared on social media, which included the Jarriiban and Galdogob districts of Mudug region in Galmudug.
This issue, which was opposed by the two districts, has created tension between the two administrations, as they have exchanged statements that could incite violent tensions.
