The president of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi Cirro, said that he wants to end the crisis in Sool and Sanaag regions.

President Cirro, who held a security meeting yesterday with the leaders of the opposition parties in Kulmiye and Kaah, also ordered the military forces to fully defend Somaliland.

“The president said that his government is not at war with its people, but it is a constitutional duty to defend the country from any enemy that gathers together. The national forces have full authority to defend the country and the people,” said President Hussein Cige Dayr.

The president once again called for an unconditional peace framework for everyone involved in the conflicts in Sool and Sanaag regions, in order to reach a solution based on consensus.

The opposition parties, for their part, have promised to stand alongside the new government and work with the defense and unity of the people of Somaliland.

President Cirro has said many times that he wants to find a peaceful solution to the recurring conflicts in the regions of Sanaag and Sool, which have caused deaths, injuries and displacement.
