The command of the Somali army has dismissed the commander of the 162nd unit of the Danab commandos operating in the Jubbaland areas, Arab Dheeg Ahmed.
The new commander of the 162nd unit of the Danab commando force has been appointed Aarif Hire Salad, and it is worth noting that the removal of the former commander came after he made a speech a day ago criticizing the leaders of the government and the command of the country.
Arab Dheeg Ahmed criticized the federal government’s recent promotion of soldiers who defected from Jubbaland and surrendered to the government forces in Raskambooni, saying that the promotion was the right of Danab forces in Jubbaland.
“Today, the date is 10/12/2024, I was removed from the position I held for the country, the religion and the Somali people, which the government authorized me to hold for 4 years and 6 months. I worked for my people, my country and my religion until now. It was possible because of my knowledge and skills,” he said in a post posted on Facebook by the former Commander Arab Dheeg Ahmed.
He also said that the former commander who was sacked welcomed the move, pointing out that his sacking is not related to the statement he made the day before.
“And I am sending my brother Arif Hire Salat who has been transferred to me and I think he is the most worthy person to be handed over to him and let him ease the difficult work ahead. I am handing him over with honor and respect and appreciation.”said Arab Dheeg Ahmed.
Finally, Arab Dheeg Ahmed mentioned that he will share with the Somali people the reason for his resignation which came at a time of serious conflict between the federal government and the Jubbaland administration.
