The armed forces of the opposition to the Syrian government have announced that they are on the verge of entering the city of Damascus, the capital of Syria.
Lieutenant Colonel Hassan Abdulqani, who is one of the military operations department of the opposition groups, announced today on his Telegram site that it is less than 20 KM from the capital city of Damascus.
“The forces are now less than 20 kilometers from the southern gate of the capital of Damascus,” said Lieutenant Colonel Abdulqani.
The opposition groups claimed in the past few hours that they have taken full control of the Daraa region, where the uprising against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad began in 2011.
On the other hand, officials of the Syrian government forces said that they are going back to the regions that are said to be out of their hands, especially those in the South of the country.
In the end, the opposition forces that are occupying a large area in the short term seem to be similar to the attacks that the Taliban took over in Afghanistan in 2021.
