More than 30 parliamentarians from both houses of parliament went to Kismayo, responding to the call of the president of Jubbaland to attend a consultation on the political situation in the country.

The consultation meeting that was supposed to take place today, Friday, has been delayed, as it is said that they are waiting for MPs who are outside the country to go to Kismayo.

The parliamentarians who went to Kismayo said that they support Jubbaland’s position on the country’s political issues, accusing the Federal Government of Somalia of having a tribal war with Jubbaland and Puntland.

The departure of these MPs coincides with the two houses of parliament having agreed to continue working for a period of one month to pass the rules of elections and parties.

The Jubbaland and Puntland administrations have rejected the 2026 election plan, accusing the Somali president of preparing for a period of growth that could plunge the country into chaos and political instability.
