The two officers were identified as Nathan Gage Ingram, 27, and Christopher Chambers.

Chambers, a champion swimmer, died days before his 37th birthday. His friend Ingram reportedly died trying to save Chambers.

“We send our condolences to Chris and Gage to their families, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. They were special warriors, dear friends,” the commander of the Navy’s Special Forces Group, said in a statement.

The two officers went missing after a night attack on a boat passing the coast of Somalia on January 11.
