MP Mohamed Abib Yusuf, who spoke to the media after being released from Madheera prison last week, said that his arrest was aimed at creating chaos in Awdal region.
He said that there was no crime he committed and he could have been imprisoned, but his imprisonment was a way to delay the election and create chaos in Awdal region.
“The government had great ambitions for my imprisonment. They wanted to remove Awdal from a conflict similar to that of Lasanod. They wanted to make it a life-long and a way to deny the election. They wanted to put my area in a state of insecurity. It removes the political debate we have,” said Abib.
He said that his opinion cannot be changed from imprisonment and intimidation, and he may die for it, but it is not possible for him to shed the blood of the people because of his opinion, “I am ready to die for the opinion that I believe in, but I don’t want to kill someone, because that person is a killer, I want people to have a life,” he continued.
He thanked the people of Awdal for listening to him and did not do violence while he was in prison. vote on election day.
