The governments of Qatar, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and the United States, affirmed their support for the independence of the Federal Republic of Somalia, territorial integrity, and unity and reiterated the need to reduce tensions in the region through mediation efforts led by Turkey. .
Representatives from these governments who met in the United States discussed the importance of focusing on how to deal with the ongoing and emerging threats of terrorist groups in the Horn of Africa.
These representatives expressed support for DFS efforts to create a quality, professional, and accountable security and defense force.
They agreed to take steps to improve the coordination of international training to facilitate assistance to the DFS to improve the training of its forces.
The group also discussed the urgent need to finalize the new plans for the stabilization and support mission of the African Union in Somalia in order to end the African Union mission in Somalia.
