The Deputy Permanent Representative of Ethiopia to the African Union, Nebiyu Tedla, spoke about a recent statement by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Somalia, Ahmed Macalin Fiqi, regarding Somalia’s support for the Ethiopian Opposition.
In a text posted on his website, the Prophet described the statement of Minister Fiqi as a joke and accused him of putting the interests of the tribe ahead of the development of the nation.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Somalia, Ahmed Macalin Fiqi, said that Somalia will make contact with the rebels against Ethiopia if Ethiopia continues the agreement it made with Somaliland.
The Prophet said in his writing, “It is ridiculous to see members of Al-Shabaab pretending to be government officials, who are not able to work efficiently outside of Banadir.
The diplomatic crisis between Ethiopia and Somalia may affect diplomatic efforts to resolve the crisis between the two countries.
Already, the angry statements between the two countries in the press are thought to be the reason for the cancellation of the third negotiation that was expected to be held in Ankara on September 17. The Turkish government, which is the mediator in this dialogue, has not released any information about the cancellation of the meeting.
