The 3rd phase of Ankara talks between Somalia and Ethiopia scheduled for September 17, has been postponed, and the reason is not known.

The invitation to the conference came as the two countries are exchanging heated words that could affect the continuation of negotiations in Ankara.

The two countries have already failed to reach an agreement in the second phase and the first phase of the talks in Ankara, although the Turkish government said that there is a rapprochement between the two sides.

But Somalia has made it clear that it will never give up on Ethiopia withdrawing from the waterway agreement it entered into with the Somaliland administration.

A few days ago, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Somalia, Ahmed Macalin Fiqi, said that Somalia will cooperate with the separatist rebels in Ethiopia, if Ethiopia does not withdraw from the agreement that violates the sovereignty of its country.

For its part, Ethiopia has expressed strong concern about Egypt’s influence in Somalia, accusing Somalia’s leaders of engaging in defense cooperation with Ethiopia’s enemies. Ethiopia insisted on defending its agreement with Somaliland.

However, it is feared that the talks that Turkey is negotiating will collapse, which could increase the tension between the two countries.

The Somali government has already threatened to take serious measures if Ethiopia continues to encroach on its territory.
