The President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, has refused to meet with the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed, in Beijing, China, as confirmed by reliable sources.

The reports we received say that African leaders, including the president of Djibouti, the president of Mauritania, and the special envoy of the African Union, who is the former president of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo, have submitted to the president of Somalia a proposal for a meeting with Abiy Ahmed.

This is the second time that the President of Somalia has refused to meet with the Prime Minister of Ethiopia.

It was in the middle of this year when Kenyan President William Ruto tried to bring Hassan Sheikh and Abiy Ahmed together in Nairobi. However, President Hassan Sheikh rejected the meeting.

The federal government of Somalia has insisted on its position that Ethiopia should cancel the agreement it entered into with Somaliland, before entering into direct dialogue.
