The Speaker of the People’s Assembly of the Federal Parliament of Somalia Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur Madobe has succeeded in resolving the strong differences between some members of the Federal Parliament of Somalia from the South West, Galmudug and Banadir administrations.
MP Yusuf Geelle Ugas and Senator Syed Siad Shirwac who spoke on behalf of the Hawiye MPs, especially the Habargidir community, apologized to the MPs from the South West administration for the reaction they faced and the interpretation of what they had previously said in the media.
“If the Somali nation is invaded in the sea and the east, it cannot be defended without unity. The people of the South West are our Ethiopian brothers, they do not like it, please, many people who hold positions from us, there have been reports of abuse, the authorities, the elders. , the directors and everyone from the people we are talking about, we are asking them to end this discussion and look at what happened,” said MP Yusuf Geelle Ugas.
MP Abdirashid Mohamed Nur Jilley, who was speaking on behalf of the MPs from the South West, said that they accepted the apology from their colleagues who had different views, and called for working together in the Somali government to turn from the enemy of the country and Somali people.
“People saw our news as an opportunity to divide Somalis. We Ethiopians did not support it. We fully accepted the plea of the parliamentarians who represented the people of Banadir. We are telling the K/G community that we are working together for the unity of the nation and the defense of the country. Speaking in the language of the K/Galbeed people, we have accepted the apology, and you are also welcome with us, we promise to work together for the good and the government,” said MP Abdirashid Mohamed Nur Jiley.
In the end, the solution to this conflict was a result of a statement made by the chairman of the Hawiye clan elders who said that the members of the South West will attack the houses if they do not back down from their decision to support the Ethiopian troops to stay in the country, which they refused. to deploy the Egyptian army to the South West areas.
