The local re-election forces, known as Mawisleyda, have taken over six areas from the Al-Shabaab group in the Halgan district of the Hiran region.
The troops destroyed the positions that the group had secretly set up in the areas under the Halgan district, which are located along the Shabelle River.
“We were aware that members of the Khawari had gathered in these areas on the banks of the river. When they heard that we were coming to their side, they ran away and crossed the river. Our forces are in their defenses,” said an officer of the local army in Maawisleyda. Hiran.
The official who spoke for the local army also said that such operations will continue as long as they eliminate the Al-Shabaab group in the region, especially in the West of the region where the group is still strong.
This operation is coming, as the army and the local people are making the final preparations to free Al-Shabaab from the western region of Hiran.
