The Council of Ministers of Somalia has today passed the Election Codes and the political parties of the country, which they said will guide the country’s election process.

The spokesperson of the Somali government, Farhan Mohamed Jimale, said that these rules will lead the country to achieve elections by people and votes, so he said that the citizens are given the right to return the government to them.

These rules are expected to be presented to the Somali parliament next week, although the opposition politicians and some of the parliamentarians are against these rules.

The party law stipulates that the country should have only two parties, which is strongly opposed by the opposition. Also, the electoral law stipulates that the parliament should be elected instead of the presidential system, which means that the people will directly elect their leaders.

President Hassan Sheikh’s term of office is less than two years. People who criticize the government say that the plan of these regulations is paving the way for a period of growth that the government has in mind.
