The President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, said that Al-Shabaab have started to confront the tribes in some regions of the country in order to create conflict and enmity between them.
The President of Somalia said that the intention of the Al-Shabaab in this action is to cripple the second phase of the operation to liberate the areas held by the Al-Shabaab, and he said that the government should prepare strongly for these operations.
“It is part of the terrorist plan to confront our people, so that we turn away from the liberation of the country. That’s not happening. We are making our country peaceful, and we are expelling the Khawarij from the country,” said President Hassan Sheikh.
The president praised the efforts of the regional governments and traditional elders to end the conflicts between the clans. He said that the Federal Government is making strong efforts to pacify the country.
President Hassan Sheikh’s statement came as al-Shabaab is recapturing the liberated areas.
On Friday, Al-Shabaab said they took over Goof Gadud Buurey area, 30 km from Baidoa city, after they launched a German attack.
