The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Somalia, Ahmed Macallin Fiqi and the accompanying delegation left for Turkey today, where they are participating in the talks between Somalia and Ethiopia which were facilitated by the Turkish government.

A press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Government of Somalia is committed to its principles of protecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.

Turkey told Somalia that it is ready to resolve the conflict between Somalia and Ethiopia.

Recently, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan held meetings with Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

The Somali government has already said that it will not enter into any dialogue with Ethiopia, until Ethiopia withdraws from the maritime agreement with the Somaliland administration.

The government of Somalia has set this month of June for Ethiopia to withdraw from the maritime agreement, otherwise the government said that its troops will leave the country immediately.
