The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hamse Abdi Barre, has been appointed by the Minister of State for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ali Mohamed Omar Ali Balcad, to be the coordinator of relations with the East African Community.
The circular issued by the office of Prime Minister Hamse appointing Minister Ali Balcad was dated June 25, and his appointment coincides with Somalia officially becoming a member of the East African Community (EAC) late last year.
However, this decree did not state that Minister Ali Balcad will continue to be the Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and that he has been removed from that position.
Ali Balcad was the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Somalia for a long time, and he played a major role in joining Somalia in the East African Community.
