The president of the Hellaac Association, Prof. Ahmed Ismail Samatar said that Somaliland has not made the necessary efforts to seek recognition.

Samatar, who gave a speech to the students of New Generation University in Hargeisa, said that there are no written scientific discussions to convince the world what Somaliland is.

“There is no recognition of Somaliland, why? Because we didn’t earn it, we didn’t put in the work, it’s a game, the story we’ve had for 33 years, tell me where Somaliland’s issues are written and it’s scientific, we are,” said Samatar.

Samatar has said in many different forums that there is a need to prepare a scientific discussion that reflects what Somaliland is and what it was during the period of independence and before.

Earlier he said that the commemoration of 26 June is more important than 18 May, saying that 26 June reflects the true government of Somaliland.
