The Kenyan government has announced that it has cleared Al-Shabaab from the forests where they were hiding in Booni, which has resulted in fewer terrorist attacks in the coastal region.

“Terrorism could not withstand the power of the security agencies and forced some of them to flee back to Somalia and fear for their lives,” said a statement from Kenya’s security agencies.

Kenyan security agencies have said that they have succeeded in getting rid of al-Shabaab who dared to hide in the forest, in order to secure peace in the coastal region of Lamu and its surroundings, including Garissa.

Security operations in Lamu, according to the Kenyan government, include several areas including security, counter-terrorism and civil-military cooperation (CIMIC) to support the community.

Kenya told its people to continue working with the security agencies to fight terrorism, develop Lamu’s economy and create more jobs for the youth.
