The United States’ Africom command has given more details about the airstrike they carried out in the Ugunji area of the Lower Shabelle region where members of the Al-Shabaab group were located.
A press release from Africom said that the aerial bombardment took place in Ugunji area on the 10th of this month which coincided with last Saturday.
The Africom command pointed out that the bombing came at the request of the Federal Government of Somalia, and three of the Al-Shabaab group were killed.
A news release from the US government also said that the bombing did not cause any damage to civilians.
The warplanes of the United States government are supporting the Somali government forces in airstrikes targeting the areas where the Al-Shabaab group is located.
