New Committee to Review Somalia’s Education Curriculum Appointed.

The Ministry of Education, Culture and Higher Education of the Federal Republic of Somalia has officially announced the appointment of a new Committee tasked with the National Curriculum Review, to implement the recommendations of the National Education Review Conference held from 8 to 12 February 2026.

The 15-member committee was appointed by Mohamed Abdulqadir Nur as Chairman, while Dr. Abdullahi Ahmed Bariise was appointed as Deputy Chairman. The committee also includes scholars, scholars, and experts in education, and Da’uud Mohamed Makaran was appointed as the Secretary of the Committee.

The other members of the Committee are Dr. Ali Abdullahi Warsame, Raqiya Ahmed Mohamed, Dr. Mohamed-deeq Ibrahim Abdi, Dr. Abdikadir Sheikh Mohamed, Sh. Bashir Ahmed Salad, Mustafa Abdullahi Ali, Osman Sheikh Aden Sheikh Heydar, Abdirizak Mohamed Xashi, Abdirizak Mohamed Aden, Ali Mohamed Ahmed (Ali Mowlid), Abdulqadir Hassan Ahmed (Kadle), Dr. Zaciima Abdullahi Haji Mohamed and Rahma Abdulkadir Mohamed.

The Somali Ministry of Education said that this committee will play a major role in reforming and developing the country’s education curriculum, especially for grades 1 to 12, to achieve a modern, unified education system that is in line with the country’s needs.

The new committee will also work closely with the Ministries of Education at the Federal, State, and education partners to ensure the quality of education in the country.
