The investigation committee into the murder of Chief Omar Abdullahi Ahmed has presented evidence related to the killing of the Chief.

The committee tasked with investigating the killing of Nabadoon Omar Abdullahi Ahmed has issued a comprehensive report on the incident in which the chief was killed, based on information gathered by Puntland security agencies and testimonies received.

An official report issued by the committee stated that Chief Omar left the town of Ceelbuh in Sanaag region on September 13, 2025, traveling to Badhan district, to participate in talks to resolve a dispute between two local tribes. The committee confirmed that the chief was a member of a peace committee led by Sultan Abdisalan.

The committee stated that Chief Omar was a chief officially registered with the Puntland Ministry of Interior, and played a prominent role in pacifying and encouraging the community in Sanaag region.

Puntland security agencies, including the CID and the security forces, confirmed in this report that the deceased did not have any criminal record or security records. Locals at the scene also confirmed that Aaqil Omar was driving his car alone when he was targeted.

The panel presented the missile debris and photographs taken at the scene of the attack, which show the type of weapon used, as well as the Suzuki vehicle he was driving. The report added that AFRICOM admitted to the airstrike that killed the chief.

DNA testing clearly showed that one male person died at the scene, which is consistent with other investigative data.

The panel concluded that Chief Omar was a peaceful individual who served the community and had no criminal record with security agencies..
