The Establishment of the East African Standby Force Approved by the Federal Parliament of Somalia.

The members of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia held their 7th session today at the House of the People headquarters, its 17th meeting, chaired by the Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur, Aden Madoobe.

In this meeting, the members of the House of the People of the Somali Parliament discussed several sensitive issues, the most important of which is the Agreement on the Establishment of the East African Standby Force.

The meeting was the third reading of the Agreement on the Establishment of the East African Standby Force by the members of the House of the People of the Somali Parliament.

The report on the third reading of this agreement was presented to the members of the Parliament by Member of Parliament Aweys Mohamed Omar, a member of the Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Committee of the House of the People.

After that, the members of the House of the People voted in favor of the Agreement on the Establishment of the East African Standby Force, with 144 members in favor, one member opposed, and two members abstained.

The Minister of State for Defense of Somalia, MP Omar Ali Abdi, who delivered a speech at the meeting, thanked the Members of the Somali Parliament for their approval of this agreement, describing it as a step that demonstrates Somalia’s determination and ambition to strengthen security, peace, and cooperation in the region.

The Minister of State also pointed out that the ratification of this agreement coincided with Somalia hosting the 34th EASF Defense Ministerial Conference for the first time this year, which demonstrated Somalia’s leading role in regional peace and security.
