The former Speaker of the Somaliland Parliament, Abdirisaq Khaliif Ahmed, who is currently running for the presidency of the Northeastern region, said that the Federal Government of Somalia is working without any suspicion to re-elect President Firdhiye.
Candidate Abdirisaq Khaliif said that the reason the Federal Government is appointing President Firdhiye is that he is a member of President Hassan Sheikh’s party.
Abdirisaq Khaliif said that the Federal Government sees President Firdhiye as a “paari” who can fully fulfill the Federal Government’s interests in establishing the Northeastern region.
Speaking about the new administration, he noted that anyone working in the Northeastern region is ready to cooperate with the Federal Government, and has the obligation to defend the rights of these regions to the central government.
Meanwhile, Abdirisaq Khaliif strongly denied reports in the media that his election campaign is supported by Somaliland and Puntland.
He indicated that a large amount of money had been spent on a smear campaign against him, blaming unnamed groups that had spent money to undermine his support and political reputation.
