An election was held today in Dhusamareb, the capital of Galmudug, for a seat in the House of Representatives, HOP#248.
The election for this seat was won by Saadaq Omar Hassan, known as Saadaq Joon, after the resignation of the incumbent MP, businessman Mohamed Abdi Hassan Afweyne, yesterday.
The businessman who resigned from this seat was a member of the Federal Parliament of Somalia for a short period of 5 months, having been elected to this seat on March 4, 2025, as the seat HOP#248 was vacant at that time.
However, Saadaq Joon had previously held this seat, but he lost his membership in this seat when he accepted the position of Deputy Director of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA).
Finally, Saadaq Joon officially re-elected to the HOP248 seat today after the election held today in Dhusamareb, where he competed against a candidate named Shafi Ahmed Ali (Akoore).
