Somalia and China discussed how to cooperate to accelerate the fight against Al-Shabaab and ISIS.

The Minister of Defense of the Federal Government of Somalia, Ahmed Macalin Fiqi, held a special meeting in Mogadishu with the Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, Wang Yu.

The meeting between the two officials focused on cooperation between the two governments in the field of defense and accelerating the fight against the Al-Shabaab group in Somalia.

The Chinese ambassador, for his part, promised that his government would play a major role in equipping and training the Somali Armed Forces and how they could be more successful in securing and ensuring the overall security of the country.

The Somali Minister of Defense, Ahmed Macalin Fiqi, for his part, thanked the Chinese government for its support for Somalia, especially in the areas of security, development and cooperation between the two countries.

Finally, this meeting comes as Somalia and China are two countries that have good diplomatic relations, which support each other in the areas of security and protecting the independence of both countries.
