The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has strongly denied reports circulating in some media outlets and social media that members of the Somali delegation that attended the 113th International Labour Conference in Geneva have not returned to the country.
A press release issued by the ministry confirmed that all members of the official Somali government delegation have returned to the country in full, fulfilling their duties and responsibilities.
“It is regrettable to spread unverified reports that damage the reputation of government institutions and public trust,” the statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
The ministry described the claims as baseless and an attempt to distort the facts. It added that the Somali delegation played a prominent role in discussions and policies regarding workers’ rights and the advancement of their welfare, representing national interests.
The ministry called on the media and the social media community to take responsibility for verifying the information they disseminate, and to avoid unverified news with personal or political motives.
