The Somali Ministry of Information has confirmed the death of Abbas Mohamed Hool, a senior Al-Shabaab official accused of being behind deadly attacks in Mogadishu and the Shabelle region.

A press release issued by the Somali Ministry of Information revealed that Abbas Mohamed Hool died from injuries sustained in a planned operation carried out by Somali government forces, noting that his condition had worsened due to injuries and illnesses.

“Abbas Mohamed Hool, who was the top leader of Al-Shabaab’s plots and plots in the Banadir region and the two Shabelle regions, died from injuries sustained in a planned operation targeting him by the Armed Forces, which later caused him to develop other illnesses that led to his death,” the Somali Ministry of Information said in a statement.

The man, identified as Abbas Hool, joined Al-Shabaab in 2007 and rose through the ranks to become one of its senior leaders, according to the Somali Ministry of Information.

He was involved in numerous attacks targeting civilians and public facilities in the capital and surrounding regions, according to a press release from the Ministry.

The ministry concluded that there was no escape for the leaders of Al-Shabaab from the hands of the Armed Forces and justice.
