The SSC-Khaatumo Police have arrested 23 suspects in connection with a gang rape and torture incident in Lascaanod town on Friday night, June 14, 2025, at around 10:30 pm.
According to an official press release from the Police Command, the incident involved two young girls. The police said that 23 of the suspects were arrested in a quick operation carried out within 48 hours, while another suspect is still at large, but is being sought by security agencies.
The SSC-Khaatumo Police stressed that all suspects will be brought to justice, stressing that there will be no tolerance for human rights violations.
The command also called on the people of Lascaanood and the general community of SSC-Khaatumo to trust the security agencies and cooperate with them when they encounter such incidents, so that they can be brought to justice quickly.
Finally, the SSC-Khaatumo Police Command promised to officially release the names and photos of the suspects, to enhance transparency, accountability, and public confidence in the investigation and justice process.
