Some of the Somali Traditional Elders who held a press conference in Mogadishu today issued a call to the opposition leaders to participate in the forum extended by the Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, despite the fact that the opposition had previously set conditions for their participation in the conference.
In a press release issued after their meeting in Mogadishu today, the Traditional Elders welcomed the Somali President’s call for a national consultation forum, especially involving Somali politicians, to find a lasting solution to the country’s fateful issues.
The elders also noted in their statement that they are grateful to the Somali National Army and the local forces known as the Macawisleyda who are fighting against the Al-Shabaab group.
They also called on the Somali people to come together to get voting cards to participate in the local council elections so that they can cast their votes and elect the leader of their choice.
Tomorrow, June 15th, is the date for the holding of the National Consultation Conference called by Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on June 1st, for the country’s politicians and the government to discuss the current situation in the country, primarily the issues of the Constitution, elections, and the fight against Al-Shabaab.
