The Somali government has said that Al-Shabaab fighters were defeated in fierce battles that lasted for hours in the border areas of Middle Shabelle and Hiran after the Somali National Army and the Somali National Army fought Al-Shabaab there.
The Somali Ministry of Defense, which issued a statement on the fighting, congratulated the Somali National Army and the Somali National Army in Hiran region on the heavy defeat they inflicted on Al-Shabaab, which attacked areas on the border between Hiran and Middle Shabelle regions yesterday.
The statement from the Somali Ministry of Defense revealed that more than 70 Al-Shabaab fighters were killed in the battle, and a large amount of weapons were also recovered from them.
The news added that this defeat by Al-Shabaab is the second defeat in two weeks for the group, which has been carrying out attacks against areas where government forces and Somali nationals are located.
On the other hand, a statement from the Ministry of Information stated that government forces have defeated Al Shabaab’s attempts to expand in Hiran and Middle Shabelle, and they are now pursuing areas in Middle Shabelle.
The Somali government praised government forces and local residents for their bravery in the fight, and pledged its commitment to eradicating Al Shabaab from Somalia.
