A suicide bombing that was heard in parts of Mogadishu was reportedly carried out by a man who had detonated explosives at the Damanyo military camp in Mogadishu.
The suicide bomber was said to have targeted a group of young men who were queuing up to register for the new army at the Damanyo military camp, who were lined up outside the camp.
Initial reports indicate that there were many casualties, including deaths and injuries, but there is no official estimate of the number of casualties.
Security forces who arrived at the scene of the explosion have cordoned off the area, and are providing emergency medical assistance to those who have suffered various injuries.
Al-Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the explosion.
Finally, the Damanyo camp, where the suicide bombing occurred recently, has previously been the scene of similar explosions that killed and injured young men who were queuing to be recruited and other soldiers who were in the camp.
