More information is available on the assassination of the Commander of the 26th Brigade, 27th Division of the Somali National Army, Major General Abdirahman Salad Xujale, today.
The assassination of Commander Xujale was reportedly carried out by a soldier from the army he commanded, and took place in the Moqokori district of Hiran region during fighting between government forces and Al-Shabaab.
The official reason behind the killing of the Commander and whether the motive for his assassination was a conspiracy are unknown, and it has been reported that the Commander was hit by a bullet fired from one of the heavy weapons of the combat vehicle.
The reports also indicate that the soldier who killed the Commander of the 26th Brigade, 27th Division of the Somali National Army, Major General Abdirahman Salad Xujale, and other soldiers with him have been arrested.
Hirshabelle State Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed Shuuriye Nur confirmed the death of Commander Abdirahman Xujaale, posting a message on his Facebook page condoling the death of the Commander of the 26th Brigade, 27th Division operating in Hiran Region, Lieutenant Colonel Abdirahman Xujaale.
The killing of Commander Xujaale comes after the killing of the Commander of the 14 October Brigade, Nur Mohamed Gaabow Nur Furey, in April this year in the Lower Shabelle region by a soldier in the Somali National Army.
