The President of the Southwest State, Abdiasis Hassan Mohamed Laftagareen, who yesterday inspected the initial stages of the war against Al-Shabaab in the Bay region, announced that they will soon defeat the Al-Shabaab group.
President Laftagareen praised the forces in the initial stages of the war for their dedication to defending the country, noting that his administration is committed to stabilizing security and general peace in the Southwest region.
“There is no retreat and your forces have the full support of the government and the people, I tell you that we will soon defeat the Khawarij,” said President Abdiasis Laftagareen.
This visit by the President of the Southwest State to the initial stages of the war in the Bay region comes as large-scale operations against Al-Shabaab are underway in areas of the Bay and Bakool regions.
The latest was at the end of last month when the Somali National Army and the Southwest Dervish forces killed approximately 20 members of the Al-Shabaab group in a battle in the Barujed area under Deynunay, including foreign and Somali leaders and other militias.
