Somalia’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Dahir Shire Mohamed, who was attending the Natural Resources Conference in Istanbul, announced that Somalia will soon be producing oil from its territory.

The Minister used the forum to discuss in depth with international officials how to strengthen cooperation in developing Somalia’s natural resources.

“Somalia is a strategic location with abundant natural resources, and its important location in Africa is a great opportunity for international investors to invest heavily in Somalia,” said Minister Dahir Shire, who delivered a brief speech at the forum.

He noted that oil exploration efforts are accelerating, and stressed that Somalia is cooperating with the Turkish government and other international partners to strengthen the country’s production and economic growth.

Minister Daahir Shire also stressed that there are other projects being implemented in Somalia in collaboration with the United States and other countries in the field of energy.

During the conference, there was a discussion with the participation of the Ministers of Mineral Resources of Niger, Libya, Hungary, Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia, with the discussion moderated by the Minister of Energy of Turkey Alparslan Bayraktar.

The Minister of Energy of Turkey Alparslan Bayraktar said that they showed Minister Dahir Shire that Turkey always stands by Somalia and is accelerating progress in oil production.
