Up to 20 MPs suspended from Somali Federal Parliament sessions due to security reasons.

The Speaker of the House of the People of the Somali Parliament, Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur Madoobe, has banned 20 members of the House of the People from attending the sessions of the House of the People due to security reasons.

A written letter issued by Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur stated that due to security reasons, the 20 members cannot attend the sessions of the members of the House of the People.

Speaker Sheikh Aden Madoobe has instructed the Clerk of the House of the People to suspend the members of the House of the People whose names are listed below from attending the sessions of the House of the People, until the House of the People’s Legislative, Welfare, Ethics and Immunity Committee issues its disciplinary decision in accordance with the House of the People’s Rules of Procedure.

“I hereby enact Articles 14, 16 and 28 of the House of People’s Rules of Procedure, which stipulate that the Speaker of the House of Peoples is responsible for implementing and upholding the House’s Rules of Procedure, and maintaining order, the smooth running of activities such as legislation, administration and the protocol of the House.” He said in the statement he issued.
