Reports from the Lower Shabelle region indicate that the Somali National Army has carried out an operation to kill leaders of the Al-Shabaab movement and destroy their base.
Somali national media reported that the operation took place in Maduulow area of the Lower Shabelle region and was carried out by the 26th unit of the 6th brigade of the 60th division of the Somali National Army.
The officers leading the operation said that during the operation, they eliminated leaders named Hassan Biid and Abdullahi Garweyne and destroyed the base where they were robbing people.
The commander of the 26th unit of the 6th brigade, 60th division, Major General Farah Hirsi Abdulle told the national media that they will intensify the operation to eliminate the Al-Shabaab group in the Lower Shabelle region.
Recently, operations have been underway in the Shabelle regions in which the Somali military forces are pursuing the Al-Shabaab group and destroying their bases.
