The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) has signed a grant agreement with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) worth $2.5 million to support the Somalia Humanitarian Fund.

The agreement, signed on Thursday, will run for the period 2025-2026 and was signed by Kuwait Fund Acting Director General Waleed Al-Bahar and OCHA Director of Finance and Cooperation Lisa Dotten.

The grant aims to finance small-scale humanitarian projects that meet the needs of 6.9 million people in Somalia affected by drought and conflict.

This is the fourth support from the Kuwait Fund for Arab States to the United Nations.

Since 2017, it has provided nearly $4.6 million, most recently in a grant to the Palestinian territories in 2024. Kuwait has demonstrated its commitment to supporting international humanitarian efforts.
