Puntland has said it has killed the head of the ISIS group responsible for drones carrying explosives, which have repeatedly attacked Puntland forces in the Al-Qalmiqaad mountains.
According to a statement from the Hillaac operation command, the foreigner was killed in an operation carried out by Puntland forces today in the Lugta-Huraanhur and Togga Raq-raq areas in the Al-Qalmiqaad mountains, Bari region.
No other ISIS members were killed in the operation, however, the report indicates that Puntland forces have spread out over a large area and the group has fled.
Such drones have been one of the biggest challenges that Puntland forces have faced during their fight against ISIS.
ISIS has become the first in Somalia to use drones equipped with explosives, which has enabled them to carry out attacks from long distances, using drone guidance.
