The government of Somaliland revoked the license of the animal health center in Berbera city owned by an Arab businessman.
This businessman named Abu-Yasir has been accused by Somaliland of being an obstacle to the export of animals, and he has entered into an agreement with the Somali government, which is a violation of Somaliland’s internal policy, according to Somaliland’s Livestock Minister Omar. Shuayb.
“You know that the biggest market for our livestock is Saudi Arabia. Somaliland has three livestock farms, one of which was managed by businessman Abu Yasir. We decided to close it after we found out that he had signed the agreement. ,” said Minister Shuayb. .
The minister said that before the mosque was closed, the businessmen called Djibouti and asked them to withdraw from the agreement. Although he admitted that he had made a mistake, he could not retract it and thus lost his license.
The Somaliland government has recently accused the Somali government of entering into an agreement with this trader, and the agreement is against the existence of Somaliland and hinders the export of live animals.
The city of Berbera is the center for the export of Somali animals, with millions of goats, cows and camels being exported every year.
