Libya’s criminal investigation department has managed to rescue 263 illegal migrants from African countries, who it said were in the hands of a smuggling group, and were in human condition. There was severe inhumanity and ill health in Ajkhara district.
The head of the press office of Waleed Al-Arafi said in a press release that the Al-Wahat branch of the agency received information indicating the existence of a warehouse where people who entered Libya illegally were kept. They were kept in a rest house on Al-Nakhil road.
According to Al-Arafi’s press release, after investigation and follow-up, two of the kidnappers were arrested and 263 migrants were released, all of whom were in very poor health and were apparently tortured.
The agency’s spokesperson explained that these migrants are from different African countries, such as Eritrea, Somalia and Ethiopia, and they were kidnapped at different times and taken to a rest house.
He said that some of the prisoners were detained there for a period of eight months, in addition to the fact that there are women among the prisoners who were repeatedly raped where they were detained, and one of them died of malnutrition in the place where she was detained.
Al-Arafi confirmed that 25 migrants were transferred to the hospital.their health condition is very poor, while on the other hand investigations have been started on the two gang men who were arrested and one of them is the owner of the rest house that was being used as an illegal prison.
