Puntland has prohibited the people of its regions from causing harm to foreigners in Puntland.
The Minister of Information, Mohamud Ayidi Dirir, who was speaking to reporters, said that the public is required to support the administration and the security forces in the operations against foreigners who are illegally in Puntland.
The minister also said that the government will take action against any member of the public who is seen causing harm to a foreigner.
This statement came after people who were angry at the presence of foreigners targeted Ethiopian foreigners in Garowe city, by torturing them.
On the other hand, Puntland has jailed hundreds of immigrants who were illegally staying in its territory.
The authorities said they are concerned about foreigners joining terrorist groups such as Daesh, who are a threat to the security and stability of Puntland.
