The security forces of Puntland have carried out large-scale operations in the city of Garowe targeting illegal immigrants, especially people of Ethiopian ethnicity, after the Puntland administration issued an order prohibiting illegal immigrants from staying in Puntland.
The current operations have resulted in the arrest of hundreds of emigrants, mostly Ethiopians, in security forces, as Puntland continues to strengthen measures to control illegal emigrants flowing into Puntland.
On the other hand, angry people are reported to have flocked to the places where the Ethiopians live in Garowe, who assaulted tens of these people, although later the security forces intervened.
After the order to ban immigrants in Puntkand came out, a rally against these people started in the cities. Videos posted on the internet showed the security forces arresting these people on the streets.
On the other hand, the Puntland criminal investigation agency said that it has introduced a process to register migrants and monitor their activities.
It is the largest operation against immigrants in Puntland. This action came after many foreigners in Puntland joined the Daesh group fighting in the mountains of Calmikaad.
